Why Keep Shabbat? I’M Not A Jew!

I’m not a Jew either, although I suspect I may be an ‘Israelite’ of the grafted-in sort…at least an ‘Israelite’ in spirit, and in full knowledge that the land promises and the promise of the Millennial Kingdom to the Jews stand intact, if unfulfilled at present.  I have tossed out all of the Pagan influences of the Christian Church, and seek to walk a little bit more like a 1st Century Messianic Gentile.  I keep a Saturday Shabbat, from Sunset on Friday evening, to Sunset on Saturday Evening.  And I enjoy it a lot.

I didn’t at first, as I struggled to follow the gentle suggestion of the Ruach ha Kodesh that I ‘consider keeping the Sabbath’.  It took me three years just to become aware of the original daily plan of the Creator, YHVH.  I missed more sunsets the first few years than I managed to even notice!  But I kept pursuing the idea.

And one day, I found that sunset had become important to me everyday.  In fact, I frequently ask myself, “Is today preparation for Shabbat?” as the sun dips in the west, because it is a wonderful thing to keep Shabbat as G-d ordained…in the beginning.

Genesis 2:2-3 (CJB)
2  On the seventh day God was finished with his work which he had made, so he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3  God blessed the seventh day and separated it as holy; because on that day God rested from all his work which he had created, so that it itself could produce.

Shabbat celebrates G-d finishing creation for us to use and enjoy.  And as we are a holy people, we should at least honor those things that G-d sets apart as holy, not to mention setting ourselves apart to be holy, and kept blameless.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-23 (CJB)
16  Always be joyful.
17  Pray regularly.
18  In everything give thanks, for this is what God wants from you who are united with the Messiah Yeshua.
19  Don’t quench the Spirit,
20  don’t despise inspired messages.
21  But do test everything — hold onto what is good,
22  but keep away from every form of evil.
23  May the God of shalom make you completely holy — may your entire spirit, soul and body be kept blameless for the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

Keeping Shabbat is not a Jewish thing; it is a G-d thing, and the easiest way of stepping back from the world.

How to keep Shabbat:

Well, the Bible gives specific rules…that were given to the Israelites and the Gentiles when they came out of Egypt, before the Torah was given…before there were any ‘Commandments’.

Exodus 16:23 (CJB)
23  He told them, “This is what Adonai has said: ‘Tomorrow is a holy Shabbat for Adonai. Bake what you want to bake; boil what you want to boil; and whatever is left over, set aside and keep for the morning.’”

Exodus 16:25 (CJB)
25  Moshe said, “Today, eat that; because today is a Shabbat for Adonai — today you won’t find it in the field.

Exodus 16:26 (CJB)
26  Gather it six days, but the seventh day is the Shabbat — on that day there won’t be any.”

Exodus 16:29 (CJB)
29  Look, Adonai has given you the Shabbat. This is why he is providing bread for two days on the sixth day. Each of you, stay where you are; no one is to leave his place on the seventh day.”

Exodus 20:8 (CJB)
8 “Remember the day, Shabbat, to set it apart for God.

Exodus 20:10 (CJB)
10  but the seventh day is a Shabbat for Adonai your God. On it, you are not to do any kind of work — not you, your son or your daughter, not your male or female slave, not your livestock, and not the foreigner staying with you inside the gates to your property.

Exodus 20:11 (CJB)
11  For in six days, Adonai made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. This is why Adonai blessed the day, Shabbat, and separated it for himself.

So, you are to gather and prepare food ahead of Shabbat, enough for two days…Friday and Saturday, and then rest.  Just rest.  At home…you know, kick back?

That is all that Shabbat is…an enjoyment of all that G-d created.

Yes, there are rules you can keep to make Shabbat special…if you happen to be Jewish, and have those traditions, but I am speaking to Gentiles.  If you want to organize your Sabbath, that’s fine…I am not going to judge you on how you keep Shabbat.  Technically, you can keep it by deliberately disregarding it…as the military, police, fire department, and hospital people do.  So, if you do not like relaxing and being with your family and friends, go and do for others.  Visit the sick, the old, the indigent, and take food with you for them.

Play music, make merry and laugh…is it so difficult to disregard all the rules that the Orthodox Jews made for their lives?

Well, actually, it is.  In the back of our minds, we have what we have read in the five books of Moshe, and if we are intent on becoming separated unto G-d, we will also have read what other people do on Shabbat, particularly as we begin to consider keeping it.

The Orthodox Jews have made rules on their rules and to me, life a misery on Shabbat, and if you want to work that hard at resting, I won’t stop you, but it’s not anywhere commanded in the Scriptures.

All one needs to do is look at the idea of rest, and then try to do that…don’t work, don’t buy and sell, don’t carry heavy burdens, don’t make a fire from scratch…don’t do those things that are part of your customary work…whatever that is.

Truck drivers shouldn’t drive a truck.  Housewives should put their feet up, and nibble on cold chicken, and cookies.  Children should play, and not go to school.  And yes, one should keep in mind that the day is set aside to G-d, and not just to relaxation…so praise G-d in song, and read a few nice things from the Scriptures, and then take a nap.  And then gather together again, and celebrate Shabbat, for it is supposed to be the most marvelous day of the week…a holiday…a set apart day.

Go to the synagogue or church if you can find one teaching on Friday evening or on Saturday…take communion at home if you can’t.

Make it up as you go along, and as the Ruach ha Kadosh leads you.

Is Shabbat that EASY?

Actually, it is.  If you read the scriptures in Exodus that discuss Shabbat, or do a study on the word, you will find very little is forbidden and less is mandated.

I like the last three verses of the Study of the word Shabbat in particular, as they tell people what to do, and not do as Believers in Yeshua.

1 Corinthians 16:2 (CJB)
2  Every week, on Motza’ei-Shabbat, each of you should set some money aside, according to his resources, and save it up; so that when I come I won’t have to do fundraising.

Colossians 2:16 (CJB)
16  So don’t let anyone pass judgment on you in connection with eating and drinking, or in regard to a Jewish festival or Rosh-Hodesh or Shabbat.

Hebrews 4:9 (CJB)
9  So there remains a Shabbat-keeping for God’s people.

Yes, I know that Hebrews was written to the Hebrews, but are we not G-d’s people too?  And if so, why are we not keeping Shabbat in order to please G-d?  Oh, you don’t want to stop going to church?  Church has nothing to do with G-d’s Sabbath.  Church is church, and you go if you like as often as you like…it is not a Shabbat activity, even if you have come to think that it is.

It was the Catholic Church that deliberately changed the keeping of the seventh day each week to the eighth…very anti-Christ like of them. When the Reformation began, no one dared change it back…the rules were very strictly kept by good Christians, and you could get in trouble if you didn’t go to Church on Sunday.  And a whole set of rules grew up around keeping Sunday…even though it is about sun worship, and not worshipping the Son.

So, keeping a Saturday Sabbath might set you apart from the rest of the world?  Yes, well, that is the purpose of it…to make you separate and different from those infidels out there…you know. all those pagans that do not know and value Yeshua?  And those that have not read their Bible enough to know how much G-d appreciates those who keep his Sabbath…well, I don’t want to tell Yeshua when he comes that the Sabbath he demonstrated to be free from unnecessary restrictions was completely avoided by me.

Consider carefully whether to keep the Sabbath on Saturday, in the way that G-d mandated, to please him, and no other, because there is no other reason to keep Shabbat.

Why do we need Yeshua?

This article was posted in a forum, in answer to the above question by someone who is wondering why Yeshua…why a Savior:

TO understand the need for Yeshua in your life, you need to begin by looking at the world and the way it was originally made, and what it became…just as man was once a different being than he is now.

If you can postulate a Creator, and accept that he chose to make a race of beings that he could enjoy and interact with, it will help a good deal.  Consider it a theory worth exploring, and bear with me as I explain, for it is not a simple subject, even when viewed without religious overtones.

And this person, whom I call YHVH…the one that is and was and will be…is a creative being of great power…it is his pleasure, his actuality to create, and he (in so much as we call him a he, since we have no idea of his actual form of being) is able to create all that is…all this universe, all the planet, the ecosystem, all to provide his creation a place of existence, exploration and education.

That creation was taken from the elements of the earth, adamah, and made into living beings by YHVH.  That being was not created with a mind completely instructed in all the ins and outs of how to live, what to do, who to be, nor with a complete set of instinctual behavior built in…but was an adult human that was yet an innocent immortal person, being carefully taught, living in the creator’s nursery, Eden, where the child man Adam was set to learn about the creation, and to interact with YHVH.

At some point, Adam seems to have needed companionship of his own, someone that was not parent and teacher, but friend and soul-mate, so that the next stage of development could go forward.  Picture Adam at the age of about 13, becoming physically mature, and noticing that he had no mate.  And so, Abba (father in Hebrew) took DNA from his perfect human male, and made not just a mate for his initial creation, but a source of struggle, and development.  She is called Eve, and although taken from him genetically, was yet perfect in her physicality, and able to provide healthy offspring for the race of people that G-d was creating, and carefully tending.

With Adam and Eve as just-barely-adult beings, YHVH began the next phase in mankind’s development in order to become more like G-d …personal responsibility.  Since mankind was made in the Image of G-d and with G-d’s nascent creative abilities although without his power, Adam and Eve were capable of working together to make a life together.  However, there is only so far that any intelligent species can progress sitting at the feet of the tutor.  Sooner or later children must begin to find their own way, and develop in the ways that they choose to develop, rather than as the parent might want.

Now, YHVH had already created a race of beings (only one that we know of – there may be many we do not know of).  They are called Watchers, as they watch mankind to learn of them and from them, for they are not made in G-d’s image, but less like YHVH, even though G-d has given them much power, talent and ability to help him construct, and regulate this universe.  G-d uses them for many things that we do not understand in regulating this universe, and the other dimensions that we know must exist…every Artist needs people to grind the paints, and stretch the canvas for the work in process.  They are often used as messengers, warriors, and even as an adversary to mankind, and are usually called Angels.  But Angels, although they are magnificent beings, are not at all like G-d is.  They are more like an army to a King, doing what they are supposed to do without a great deal of personal involvement, yet individuals all the same.

And one individual Angel’s history is given in the Scriptures that plays a huge part in the development of mankind, and why Yeshua (Jesus) is necessary in the scheme of things.  He is called Satan…a Hebrew word that merely means ‘adversary’, and his design includes being a pain in the neck to mankind, under strict rules and limits set by G-d.  The Greco-Romans called him Lucifer, (Light Bringer) as he is the most brilliantly made and decorated Angel…one who often appears as a being of light, and deceptively so.

And thus we are back to Eden, and what was about to happen there that triggered the need for a redeemer for mankind.  Abba, in order to give mankind self-determination, also had to give them the ability to choose what they would do, and to receive the consequences that came of each choice.  And as an initial test of character, G-d gave a simple rule for Adam and Eve to break, or not to break.

Genesis 2:9 (CJB)
9  Out of the ground Adonai, God, caused to grow every tree pleasing in appearance and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:16-17 (CJB)
16  Adonai, God, gave the person this order: “You may freely eat from every tree in the garden
17  except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. You are not to eat from it, because on the day that you eat from it, it will become certain that you will die.”

It seems to be a human trait that as soon as we are forbidden something, it becomes something we wish to do.  Still, Adam was told, and was not overly troubled by having just one tree he could not eat from, when he could eat freely from all other trees, bushes and herbs.

Eve, having been made after this point in time, was not directly instructed by G-d about the trees, or the consequences of eating from the forbidden tree.  Adam apparently told her about the situation, and again, she seems to have avoided eating from the dreaded tree, until the Adversary, decided to intervene.  Suffice it to say, the Adversary, ‘beguiled’ Eve into eating the fruit of the forbidden tree, and Eve gave some to Adam, who ate it. And the two of them were no longer innocent beings.  G-d judged the situation, and condemned mankind to mortality on a broken planet, but promised that one day a child of Eve’s would rectify the brokenness.

Awareness of identity was already within them, but in eating the fruit, mankind was altered to be conscious of what is not just right or wrong to do, but why, and the penalty of eating the tree became instantly in place.  Prior to the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve were perfect, immortal beings.  Afterwards, everything was made mortal, faulty and broken…not just Mankind, but the Universe was affected, and entropy entered into the equation.

However, G-d, being a good parent, was already aware of all possibilities, and had put in place a solution to the expected disobedience of his creation.  Once Adam and Eve were mortal, their every choice would bring consequences for themselves, and everything else around them, yet without their ability to choose for themselves, they could not ever choose G-d as their G-d voluntarily.

Abba wanted a family, and made one, but needed to allow that new race of beings to love him or to hate him, or else not have a family at all.  But having condemned mankind to mortality, G-d needed a mechanism for mankind, if they chose him above all else, even their own, mortal life, to become immortal again, and not just immortal, but choosing to be under the direction of G-d…not as automatons, but out of reasoned choice.  In other words, G-d gave these beings a single mortal lifetime to have and enjoy and suffer through, and a chance to learn to be like G-d not merely in image, but in spirit.

However, in the free will solution to provide mankind with choice, Abba had damaged his creation.  How to undamage it now was the problem.  How does one find, amongst the billions of men and women born on this planet throughout history, those few people who would choose G-d, and G-d’s way of doing things out of love…not because they had to.  Their life was a gift already, and those who sought G-d learned from him, and chose to follow what they learned or not, as was their desire.

What I call the God Conspiracy was a plan always waiting in the wings for the time when mankind’s civilization would progress to the point that man would understand what G-d was doing.  In the early generations, there were few who paid attention to the information passed down from the first parents, but there were always some.  And eventually, a family line was chosen to create a small nation from, to be given special knowledge, and then also to demonstrate how to use that knowledge to the entire world.

Through the formation of that nation, starting from one man, Abraham, rules on how to live successfully were spread, and demonstrated to be effective when followed, and devastating if not.  In those rules and regulations that Abraham’s children were given were promises and laws that G-d promised to abide by as well. And in order to get the Israelites out of the fix they were in, since they were perennially falling into imperfection in their adherence to the rules of effective living, G-d focused a portion of his extra-dimensional person into the child who became known as Yeshua ha Notsri…Jesus Christ.

The reasons for this advent into a temporary existence as a human have to do with the laws and promises made to the Israelite people, and to Eve, and to the Adversary from the beginning.  The ideas present in the self-sacrifice that G-d made of himself by his own will are written in all the history and religion of the Israelites, and why it would be necessary.

G-d considered himself an husband to the people of Israel, and in the following of many of his own rules for successful living, having divorced a large percentage of idol-worshiping Israelites is in the position of not being able to legally remarry her.  To remarry that people requires either the nation to die, or G-d to die.  Then, those divorced Israelites would be free to remarry him, in a spiritual sense, since he would, being G-d, live again.

Thus the need for Yeshua’s death, and his resurrection in power.  It all follows a lot of plans that G-d wove into the teaching of the Israelites, but the point is that Israel is free to choose G-d’s ways again, and be made able to keep them And not just Israel, but any person who will choose to do so.  And best of all, during the time of their mortal life, they are changed, to be more and more like Yeshua, and less like the foolish mortals they begin as.  They are given a portion of the Holy Spirit…G-d’s spirit…put within them, and that Spirit slowly changes them as they cooperate with G-d to be changed.

And so, we humans ask that G-d as Yeshua to come into our lives, as our King, and Savior…the one who gives his perfect life for our imperfect one so that we can be changed…to be more like what G-d had in mind in the first place.  And on top of actually making us different than we were, he gives us also eternal life with him, and a renewed planet, once other promises to the Israelites are fulfilled in the remaining portion of this age on this planet.

Soon, Yeshua will return, and rule the planet, and mostly just a small remnant of Israeli’s and a few of the Nations will be in that kingdom repopulating the planet.  This time period offers the people who survive to enter it a final chance to see that without being enabled to be like   G-d we can’t manage well at all.

Those of us that are already Yeshua’s now will not be mortal when that time comes, and those that are not Yeshua’s die, and await judgement at the end of the age, stated to be a millennium of time from now, during which the Israelites finally receive what was promised to Abraham.  During the Millennium, the Israelites and the Nations get to have their lives lived in an enforced peace upon the planet, following the effective rules for living already laid down.

There are special tests laid down for this time period, and for the future, and all give each generation their opportunity to choose how they will live, and in what way, and whether they live their first life, or live eternally.  The Millennium also exists to demonstrate that without G-d’s enablement in Yeshua by the Holy Spirit in him, mankind cannot live successfully.

So, Yeshua is our redeemer, and redeems us from our own foolish choices, and the broken racial characteristics we have inherited.  At the final day of Judgement, Yeshua also causes the healing of the broken world we live on, and remakes it better than it is now.  Yeshua gives us all the ability to become the best we can be, now and in the future, and in an unlimited way, for eternity.

That is WHY Yeshua…because we can live without him, but not happily, nor successfully, and for only a short time.  Yet, because G-d loved us, he made a way for us to come back to the beginning, to be made like Adam and Eve first were, perfect in their genes, on an unbroken planet, and in harmony with G-d.

G-d caused a special human child to be born, and placed himself in that child, to live as a human, and die voluntarily to be a symbolic as well as actual sacrifice for our sheer imperfection…our sin, literally buying us free of all we owe to one another, by paying our debts to one another for the sins we commit, and the hurt we do one another, and satisfying all the rules that he set down for us.

Yeshua is a gift.  All you need do is ask for that gift, and G-d gives it to you.  It is not an easy way to live in the beginning, for there is a lot to learn, but G-d enables you, and you are free of condemnation for your past behavior, and enabled to do better and better all the time.  G-d blesses you as you grow, not necessarily in the things of this world, although they are there as well, but in the ability to live well, no matter the circumstances, happily, and in peace.

The gift is a gift…there is nothing you need do, but ask for it, and accept it.  The receiving of the Holy Spirit then will make you wish to become like Yeshua, a little bit at a time, and you will keep the successful rules for living because that is what Yeshua did, not because you have to, or because it gains you more love and approval from G-d.  And in living successfully, on purpose, with the Holy Spirit within you, well, that is a delight even when it is hard to do.

I hope that is sufficient to prompt more questions, and a desire for Yeshua in your life, and I hope you will establish a relationship with G-d, so that in Yeshua’s actions, and through the Holy Spirit, you can be made to be as you were created to be, a son of the Living G-d.

Can a Bear keep Shabbat?

In my world, and in the world of Rabbi Jacob Ben Avraham, yes they can.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

(From a Jewish Perspective)

…..It was around noon time when Goldilocks left her Brooklyn apartment on the corner of Court Street and Atlantic Ave.  She would finally spend a Sabbath Eve with her grandma “Zaide” Sarah who lived in a small retirement village apartment on the corner of 9th Street and 7th Ave.  She was in her late 80s now, and really didn’t get around much anymore, at least that was what Goldilocks thought.  So she thought it might be a good idea to visit her and spend a Sabbath Eve with her.  Mamma thought it was a good idea too.
…..So Mamma baked a fresh loaf of Challah, wrapped it in plastic wrap and placed it inside of Goldilocks’ back-pack.  She went to the corner of 9th and 7th and waited for the bus.  Once she boarded, Goldilocks settled down in a seat in the middle of the bus, leaned her head against the window and closed her eyes.  Her memories took her back to the times when grandma and grandpa had spent more time together with her.
…..In past years, they had taken her to Prospect Park which was near the grandparents place. They would walk together, throw nuts to the squirrels and bread crumbs to the birds.  Goldilocks would swing on one of the many swing-sets in the park.  A few years ago, grandpa had given up the ghost, and now it was only grandma “Zaide” Sarah.  These thoughts had slowly lulled Goldilocks to sleep.  She wasn’t planning a nap on the bus, it just happened that way.
…..When she awoke, the bus had stopped for a few minutes because the bus driver had gone into a store for a snack and a restroom break.  She looked around and saw the street sign, “New York Ave”, quite a way from where she had planned to get off.  She had plainly slept through her stop at 7th and 9th Ave.
….”Have a nice day” said the driver as he got back on.
….”Yeah, you too” replied Goldilocks as she rushed down the aisle and jumped down the steps and passed the open door.  A few more passengers got on and the driver closed the door and drove away.
…..So there she stood there at the corner of Midwood and New York Ave thinking that, ‘somehow, I have to get back to where Grandma lives’.  She opened her purse and fumbled around looking for another bus token, but all she found was some loose change, an old grocery receipt, some paperclips and an old folded up homework assignment from Mr. Stein’s Social Studies class.
…..’Great’ she thought, ‘so this is where it was, two weeks too late.  I’ll turn it in anyway, better late than never.’
…..The loose change amounted to twenty-two cents, not even enough for a cup of coffee.
…..’Well, she thought, I could “schnor” myself back to grandma’s place.’
…..She remembered the stories that grandma and grandpa had told her about “schnorers” back in the old country, destitute beggars asking pedestrians for a few Kopeks or even a Ruble or two near the great city of Kiev.
…..But, ‘No’ she thought, ‘there’s no way I’m going to schnor for bus fare, I’ll just walk it out.’
…..So Goldilocks began her trek back towards grandma’s place at 9th and 7th.  Sure, it was a long way off, but if she walked fast, she ought to be there in time for Sabbath.  With the loaf of challah in her backpack, she hurried along New York Ave as fast as she could walk.  A little ways up ahead she noticed a sign that pointed to Prospect Park.
…..’Well’ she thought, ‘I could go around the park or cut through it.  If I cut through it, I’ll save some time, yeah, cut through it.’ she decided finally.  So Goldilocks started through Prospect Park with backpack and challah loaf inside.  Soon she noticed a trail that led to Brooklyn’s only forest.
…..This somewhat intrigued her.  She remembered grandma “Zaide” telling her about this small forest in Brooklyn, yet she never took her along one of these quaint forest paths.
…..’Guess I can make a detour’ thought Goldilocks, ‘ten or fifteen minutes won’t matter. I’ll still make it back to grandma’s before the Sabbath begins.’
…..So Goldilocks started to walk along the main trail that lead to towering trees and bushes.  She was enthralled by such greenery in the middle of the city, she was captivated by the tweeting of the birds, and the scurrying squirrels that paused for a second to stare at her before disappearing into the thickets and trees.
…..Soon, she came upon a small log cabin house that was nestled between a clump of trees.  It was off the beaten trail but nevertheless, curiosity got the better of her.   She went over to investigate.  She made her way to this small, strange house in the middle of this vast Brooklyn forest.  She read the sign that was nailed to the front of the door which read; “BEARkowitz Family”. There were also three mail boxes near the front door with the names; Papa Bearkowitz, Mama Bearkowitz, and Baby Bearkowitz.
…..Goldilocks went closer for a better look and noticed that the front door was opened a crack, so she went up and knocked.
…..”Hello, anyone at home?”
…..Her knocking opened the door a bit more.  No one answered, so she pushed open the door and went inside the BEARkowitz residence.  Upon entering she noticed a small, cozy kitchen to the left and around the corner was a combination dining and living room.  On the dining room table, she noticed three bowls of porridge.  The aroma of the porridge stirred up her appetite, so her went over and sat down in a large chair in front of the larger bowl of porridge.  She tasted it but, alas, it was much too hot.
…..She moved over to the medium sized chair in front of a smaller bowl and tasted the porridge. But “oi” it was too cold and bland.  Then she saw the smallest bowl of porridge in front of the smallest chair.  The chair looked comfortable so she sat down and tasted the porridge.
…..”Yes” she exclaimed, “just right”
…..So she ate it all up.  After eating, Goldilocks felt a little tired so she went into the living room and saw two cushioned chairs and a small rocking chair.  She sat down in the first chair, but it was much too hard for her comfort.  She then tried the next chair, but the cushion was too soft for her comfort.  Finally, she sat down in the rocking chair and started rocking back and forth.  Yes, it seemed just right.
…..After about ten minutes of rocking back and forth in the small rocking chair, Goldilocks began to feel sleepy so she went into the master bedroom and found two beds.  She lay down in the first bed which was pretty large, but the mattress was too hard and firm.  She went to the other bed and lay down, but the mattress was much too soft.  Then she went into the adjoining bedroom and found baby bear’s bed, (who wasn’t really a baby anymore on account that he was already 13 and bar-mitzvahed).  She lay down on the bed and she felt that it was just right.  Soon, she fell fast asleep.
…..In the meanwhile, Papa bear, Mama Bear, and Baby bear (who wasn’t a baby anymore since he was already 13 and bar-mitzvahed) returned home from shopping.  They saw that the door was already open a jar, so Papa Bear said;
……”Honey, did you forget to lock the door again?”
….. “Oi Vey” responded Mama Bear, “Seems like I am getting to be a bit absent minded these days, my bad!”
…..”That’s OK” replied Papa Bear, “We don’t have anything worth stealing anyway.”
…..So the three BEARkowitz bears entered and Mama Bear put the groceries on the kitchen table for the Sabbath Eve dinner.  It was then that Papa Bear noticed the bowls of porridge on the table.
…..”Someone has been eating my porridge!” said Papa bear a little annoyed.
…..Mama Bear went over to the table and looked at her bowl of porridge and exclaimed;
…..”Oi, someone has been eating from my bowl of porridge too!”
…..The baby Bear (who wasn’t such a baby anymore since….well…you know)  went over to his bowl of porridge and cried out;
…..”Someone ate all of my porridge, and I am really hungry now!”
…..”Do you suppose that someone came in here while we were out shopping?” asked Mama Bear a bit surprised.
…..”Well”, replied Papa Bear, “you did leave the door unlocked didn’t you? We’ll just look around and see.  If someone is here, we’ll soon find out.”
…..So the three bears went into the living room and went over to their chairs.
…..”Someone has been sitting in my chair” exclaimed Papa Bear, noticing that his chair had been moved slightly.
…..”Someone has been sitting in my chair too” exclaimed Mama Bear, noticing that the cushion had been moved.  Then Baby Bear (who wasn’t a baby…..you know the rest) went over to his rocking chair and said;
…..”Someone has been rocking in my chair, look, my comic book that was on my chair is on the floor!” and he went over and placed the comic book on the rocking chair seat again.
…..”Good observation son” replied Papa Bear, nodding his head. “we’re getting closer to the truth of the matter, let’s check out the bedrooms.”
…..So the BEARkowitz bears went into the master bedroom.  Papa Bear noticed that the bedspreads were a bit out of place.
…..”Someone has been sleeping in my bed” he exclaimed, shaking his head!’
…..”Someone has also been sleeping in my bed” replied Mama bear, noticing that the sheets were pulled back a bit.
…..”Mama, Papa” cried out Baby (well, you know the story) Bear, “someone is sleeping in my bed, and here she is!”
…..Mama and Papa Bear rushed into their son’s bedroom and were very much surprised to see the young girl asleep in the bed.  For a minute, they just stood there staring at Goldilocks.
…..”Is she a friend of yours son?” asked Papa Bear.
…..”Never seen her in my life Papa!” replied (well, we have call baby Bear something else).
…..Then Mama Bear, very gently, reached over and shook Goldilocks’ feet.
…..”wake up, wake up little girl” she said softly.
…..Goldilocks stirred a little and awoke from her sleep.  She rubbed her eyes a bit and sat up.  When she opened her eyes and saw the three bears standing at her bedside, out of her mouth came..
…..Ayyyyy! Yahhh, Yahhhh, yahhh…. screaming at the top of her lungs, terrified to see the bears.
…..”Oi, little girl, stop screaming so, you act as though we’re going to eat you alive” responded Mama Bear, a little surprised to see the girl act so.
…..”Well Bears are bad, and evil” replied Goldilocks still a little distraught, “They attack and eat people and tear them limb from limb!”
…..”I think wolves do that” said baby bear, “it was a big bad wolf that ate little Red Riding Hood’s grannie!”
…..”Oi Vey” groaned Papa Bear shaking his head, “She must have gotten a hold of last month’s Field and Stream magazine, you know, the one that had the article about the hikers in the Rockies getting attacked by a grizzly.”
…..Mama Bear just smiled at Goldilocks and sat down in the bed beside her.  “Not all bears are bad dear” she said, trying to calm the young girl, “but grizzlies, well, they’re bears with an attitude”
…..”So what kind of bears are you?” asked Goldilocks, now a bit more composed.
…..”Well” began Papa Bear, “To be perfectly honest, we do have some grizzlies in our family.  My great, great aunt and uncle; Sasha and Tatyana BEARkovich lived in the forests of Siberia near Yakutsk.  Now those were two bears with an attitude, why they took on 4 Cossacks at once and tore them apart.  But the Cossacks were the ones looking for trouble mind you!”
…..”Yeah, but they’re probably a pair of rugs now in the Tsar’s palace” responded Baby (but not so baby any more) Bear, a little excited to join the conversation.
…..”Son” growled Papa Bear, “what did I tell you about saying that kind of thing. They aren’t rugs, they just…well… vanished one day.
…..”sorry” sighed baby Bear, a little embarrassed now, especially in front of this unexpected visitor.
…..”Well dear” replied Mama Bear, remembering the question, “What kind of bears are we? Well? We’re…ah…”Brooklyn bears!” Mama bear didn’t quite know what else to say.
…..”Yeah” added baby Bear, “like the Brooklyn Dodgers”
…..Goldilocks just looked at the three bears wide eyed, just looking for a chance to escape.  She still had her back pack on and she slowly got off the bed.  “Weeell” she began, “I’m not really into baseball, I’m a tennis fan…soooo….gotta go now…bye…” and she quickly headed toward the bedroom door.  Papa bear, though, moved quickly in front of her.
…..”Just a minute young lady, you haven’t told us why you’re here” he said, standing in front of the door, blocking Goldilock’s getaway.  Goldilocks stopped, threw the backpack on the bed and sat down again.
…..”First of all, my name is Goldilocks, and well…this is how it went.”  So she told the story of how she left her apartment and headed towards grandma “Zaide” Sarah’s place, fell asleep on the bus, got off at the wrong stop, ran out of bus tokens, head back to grandma’s place, took a short cut through the park and then…ended up at the Bear’s house.  Now, the Bear family’s interest was really sparked,
…..”So you see sir” continued Goldilocks.
…..”I’m Mr. BEARkowitz, and this is my family” interrupted Papa bear.
…..”OK, nice to meet you…as I was saying…I came across your house, the door was open a crack, I came in, I was a bit hungry and I still am, and well…I saw your porridge and well…you know the rest.”  Goldilocks stopped talking and waited for the Bear’s response.
…..”So you say you’re on your way back to your grandma’s place near 9th and 7th Street, right?”
Asked Papa Bear.  “what’s her name if I may ask?”
…..”Sarah” answered Goldilocks, “Zaide” Sarah.
…..”Grandma “Zaide” Sarah is YOUR grandmother?” questioned papa Bear a bit surprised. “Zaide” Sarah Goldstein?”
…..”You know her?” questioned Goldilocks, wondering how in the world he could know her grandma.
…..”Why everyone around here knows Grandma “Zaide” Sarah Goldstein”  replied Mama Bear, “She is so friendly, always comes to the park, feeds the birds, the squirrels, tells the children in the park Bible stories, why, we just saw her today when we were on our way home from shopping.  She was at Temple Beth Shalom.  I believe that Rabbi Stein and his wife invited her to their place to spend Sabbath Eve, such a nice old lady” smiled Mama Bear looking at Goldilocks with all serenity.
…..”You mean to tell me that I came all this way and she isn’t even home!? Answered Goldilocks, quite annoyed now, upon hearing this unexpected news.
…..”Well, you could have called her on the phone” replied Mama Bear quietly.
…..”She never answers the stupid phone” cried Goldilocks,  “and mama baked this Challah especially for her!” she added, taking the paper wrapped loaf of Challah bread out of her backpack, showing it to the bears.
…..”The challah” cried out Mama Bear, slapping herself on the side of her head.  “That’s what we forgot dear husband, the Challah bread at Aaron’s bakery!”
…..Papa bear just stood there, stroking his chin, deep in thought.  “You know” he began, “This is a very interesting situation.  We have a Sabbath Eve chicken dinner in the oven, and Goldilocks here has the Challah.  Young lady, how would you like to be our Sabbath Eve dinner guest this evening?”
…..”Yes” added Mama Bear, “it would be an honor to have you!”
…..Goldilocks didn’t quite know how to respond.  Then she smiled a big smile, and nodded
“Thank you so much, I accept, I’m as hungry as a bear….Oh…sorry, no pun intended, my bad.”
…..”Well” replied Mama Bear,  “It’s settled, let’s go into the dining room and wash up, the Sabbath is almost upon us”.  So the three bears and Goldilocks left baby bear’s bedroom and went into the dining room.
…..”Now, you two go to the sink and wash your hands and don’t forget the hand washing blessing. Papa bear and I will get the dinner on the table, and get the candles and wine out to greet the Sabbath.
…..So baby bear and Goldilocks washed their hands, recited the blessing, and went over to the dining room table.
…..”Goldilocks, you sit over there” said Mama Bear, pointing to one of the chairs, “and Baby bear, you sit next to Goldilocks.”
…..”Come on Mama” cried out baby bear, “Cut it out with the ‘baby bear bit’ I’m already 13 years old, remember my Bar mitzvah last month?”
…..”Well” began Mama Bear, “You know how the story goes, the author named you…”
…..”I know, I know” interrupted baby bear, “but you can change my name…Pleeeeeaase!! He cried.
…..”Go ahead, change the name” responded Papa Bear, as he set the candles in place on the table.
…..”How about, YOUNG BEAR?” asked Mama, looking inquisitively at her son.
…..”Sounds native American” replied her son bluntly.
…..”I like it” replied Goldilocks, smiling from ear to ear.
…..”YES” shouted Young Bear, pumping his fist in the air, “Young Bear, Young Bear, Yes, Yes!”
…..”OK, it’s settled, YOUNG BEAR, you sit with Goldilocks, the Sabbath is almost among us” replied Mama Bear as she put on her white scarf.  Papa Bear put the roast chicken, mashed potatoes and corn in the middle of the table. The table already had a beautiful white linen table cloth, especially for the Sabbath.   He poured some wine in the four wine glasses which was in front of each family member and the surprise visitor.  He then set the Challah bread next to the chicken and sprinkled some salt on it.  Papa put on his Yarmulke and looked at his wife and nodded to her to begin.
…..Mama bear lit the candles and waved her hands, as if drawing in the light of the Sabbath candles, then recited the prayer;
…..”Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech HaOlam……..”  Then Papa Bear took the Challah and cut it, and recited the Sabbath prayer for the bread, then gave a piece of Challah to those at the table.  Then came the blessing over the wine, and the wine was shared as well.
…..After all had partaken of the bread and the wine, Papa Bear said, “Aumein” and the rest responded,  “Aumein”
…..”OK, so let’s eat” replied Mama Bear, as she served the chicken, the mashed potatoes and the corn to everyone at the table.
…..”Gut Shabbos everyone” said Papa Bear, nodding at Goldilocks.
…..”Gut Shabbos” replied Goldilocks, “Gut Shabbos to all of you and thank you.”
…..”You are so welcome young lady” said Mama Bear, very happy to have a Shabbos guest.
…..Goldilocks was really enjoying the BEARkowitz’s Shabbos meal, and then she noticed that “Young Bear” was looking at her, and seemed to have something on his mind.  He finally got enough nerve and lifted up his voice saying;
“…..Uh…uh…Goldilocks?…uh…I wanted to, kinda, like, ask you something?”
…..”Yeah, what?” replied Goldilocks, a bit curious as to the nature of the question.
…..Young bear swallowed a piece of chicken with a bit more wine and then responded;
…..”OK, are you…well…kinda like…uh…going with someone? I mean…do you…like have a boyfriend?”
…..Goldilocks just smiled and rolled her eyes; “Oi” she said, “what next?”

Now it came to pass that an old rabbi with a long white beard, a bekishe, and a black hat just happened to come across this story written on several sheets of lined notebook paper.  He just happened to be walking in Prospect park in early Spring.  He sat down on one of the park benches to meditate on the creation of HaShem.  He looked and saw the 5 pieces of notebook paper stapled together and folded.  They were right at the end of the bench weighted down by a small rock.
He read through the story, smiled and said within himself; ‘Yes, this would be perfect for next Sabbath’s message.’  So, the rabbi went home and made some notes with the help of the rebbetzin.
Upon the arrival of the next Sabbath, the rabbi went up to the Bema and began his discourse.
“God has given us all the spirit of curiosity, began the rebbe, We are curious about new things, new situations, our nature is to be inquisitive, so we venture off-course a bit to explore new terrains.  What lies behind closed doors you might ask? Sometimes, the doors are open just a bit to invite you to ‘push it open and take a look inside.’
Life is full of new experiences and opportunities that we might wish to tackle.  Some of them might be just “too hot” to handle.  We might not be prepared just yet.  Other tasks may be, in our opinion, “too cold” “too bland” or just “too boring” for us to handle, or accept.  However, if there is a job that needs to be done, a “mitzvah” needing to be performed, a person in need of your help, no matter how “bland” or “how boring” it may seem to you, God has put you there for a reason.  Never think that a “mitzvah” is beneath your dignity, God will bless and reward many “humble floor sweepers.”
Then there are the situations and “mitzvoth” that seem “just right” right up your alley you may think.  “This is just what I was hoping for.”  Or “expecting” or “waiting for.”  Then there is “sit down” time, “down time” a time for a rest, a personal “shabos” time.  You may rest in an easy chair, or take a long snooze in a “b.b.b.” (baby-bear bed).
Many will take their long-awaited summer vacation, some will just be satisfied with a weekend Sabbath rest.  Some will take a yearlong “sabbatical” that is if it can be afforded.  God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh.  He worked and then rested.  We should take his example.  There is a time for work, to do mitzvoth (good deeds), and a time for rest.  There is a time and a season for everything and everything has its time and its season.
There is a time and a season to repent of wrong doing, a time for teshuvah, to get right with God, that time is now.  There is a time, a place, a season just right for you.  Take advantage of it, because there is no promise of tomorrow.  As the Prophet Isaiah said; “Seek the L-RD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near!” (55:6)

Are YOU lukewarm?

The Christians of the world are going seriously astray, but worst of all,  either do not see that they are falling off the path of righteousness, or are being told there is no path to walk!  The wolves are in the fold everywhere, with their sheepsuits on, pretending to have the word of G-d.  And those of us who are attempting to stick to the basic straight and narrow way have trouble even getting a hearing with these deluded people.

They do not want to hear a message of repentance and obedience, they want to sing and dance and enjoy themselves without any real recognition of G-d.  They worship their worship, and not G-d, and turn away at the first mention of a serious subject in the sermon that currently lightly discusses how to be happy in a worldly way with no attempt at or acknowledgement of the obedience they owe to G-d.

“I’m not a Jew!”

They say they are not Jews, and want their Easter and Christmas celebrations of the most pagan things of the old Roman church under Constantine.  They don’t seem to be aware except in the most superficial manner that YHVH is the one that gave the New Covenant that we are partakers in through Yeshua, and that he also is the G-d that the Jews worship.  They turn away from the Saturday Sabbath because Sunday is what everyone else does, and are thus obeying the changing of times and seasons of the Roman Catholic Church under Constantine!

Romans 2:26-29 (CJB)
26  Therefore, if an uncircumcised man keeps the righteous requirements of the Torah, won’t his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision?
27  Indeed, the man who is physically uncircumcised but obeys the Torah will stand as a judgment on you who have had a b’rit-milah and have Torah written out but violate it!
28  For the real Jew is not merely Jewish outwardly: true circumcision is not only external and physical.
29  On the contrary, the real Jew is one inwardly; and true circumcision is of the heart, spiritual not literal; so that his praise comes not from other people but from God.

Granted, they are not Jews, but they are Israelites, grafted into Yeshua, the vine of Judaic faith, and need to stop acting like Greco-Romans!  Christmas is Pagan, and Easter is Pagan, and they need to stop celebrating the wrong things, even if they do not want to leave their Pagan ways behind, because commandments are just that…commandments. They might not want to prevent themselves from killing people, particularly evil people, but they obey the commandment because it is a commandment!

Sooner or later, they need to begin celebrating the true Shabbat and the true Festivals of G-d in their own un-Jewish way, and begin to obey G-d in the ways that are taught by the Apostles, and by Yeshua, and not by their so-called Pastor.  There is no need to act Jewishly, but the Festivals are Prophetic, and they are shadows of the Messiah, and if you ignore the Shabbats of G-d and the Appointed Times of G-d YHVH might accept it, but he might also feel as he isn’t being loved very much, and indeed, is being hurt by their lack of interest in what he wants.

Matthew 7:21-27 (KJV)
21  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24  Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26  And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Acting out our obedience to G-d is our worship, however quietly and discreetly we may act it out so as to not disturb others, yet that does disturb the Paganized Christians I know, although they say they accept this odd behavior in me while thinking me a bit insane to be so Biblical.  However, I think one day it will not be acceptable to the interfaith Churchianity that is looming out there on the horizon and I think that keeping a Saturday Shabbat and the Moedim is going to become a real problem to the AntiChrist one day, just like anyone who doesn’t take the Mark will be.

Even though we Messianic Believers dont follow Torah in any uniform or traditional way, most of us follow the original Acts 15 decree, and the New Covenant as Yeshua taught with no particular set of traditions or rules.  But just the fact that we are not doing what is important to the world will soon cause offense to Churchianity because what we are doing doesn’t fit in their world.

To them, we are looking suspiciously like Jews in some ways (Shabbat, Moedim, avoiding Lashon haRa, Kosher Lite), and that is not easy or popular, and might one day be dangerous.  And that keeps people in Pagan Churches, because it is uncomfortable to be obedient to G-d sometimes.  Yeshua warned that he had come to bring the sword of division between family members, and friends, and it will happen.  The point is always, who do you love more, Abba, or your comfortable relationships with family and friends?

That doesn’t apply to me!

My friends and everyone I interact with regularly are all Believers in Yeshua, but are resting in Grace PLUS their general awareness of Yeshua’s desires as stated in the Brit Chadashah, and their following of that awareness.  And yet, they do not keep the Moedim…Shabbat, and the Festivals of G-d.  They do not follow the Acts 15 commandments.  They say the Moedim that G-d enacted as part of the Mosaic Covenant does not exist in the New Covenant, and does not apply to them, even though the New Covenant is that part of the Mosaic Covenant that was once written on stone that is to be carved into their hearts and minds by the Holy Spirit.  They also say that they avoid all the things in the Acts 15 decree, so what is the problem?

There is no blatant, obvious sin in their lives, and most of them have withdrawn to one degree or another from Churchianity simply out of disgust, but they are not in the least bit interested in what the Bible says outside of their original teaching in the Christian churches either.  They look upon those attempting the following of the commandments as odd because they are uninterested being different from the world they are happy in, and they think there is no penalty for disobedience to G-d because Yeshua took the sin of the world on his shoulders.  Yeshua did exactly that for those who repent of their sins, and turn away from them…repent from not doing what he commands, and turn away from lawlessness.

But these many Believers in Yeshua cannot seem to connect the idea of lawlessness with themselves and their behavior.  Even if I mention that Yeshua is soon to come, as in their lifetime and mine, they nod, and agree, but do not seem to take anything about that fact as a reason to try and improve their walk.  Their walk, to them at least, is just fine, and I need to stop bothering them about my silly ideas of what the Bible really says!

At most I get a vague interest in the End Times and in prophecy from a few people, and how it is playing out on the ground from those who have never been previously interested in prophecy, which is, other than our personal example, about all there is to talk about with people who are not attempting Torah obedience to the minimal extent the Acts 15 Decree mandates.  And oddly, they do not seem much interested in helping anyone else to a saving knowledge of Yeshua either, except in a general, positively affirming kind of way.  Still, those interested in prophecy are not seeing what I do in the Bible, and a lot of others like me.

They are not uninterested exactly, but they are not overly concerned either, so my mentioning what I see in the Acts 15 Decree, and in Yeshua’s many descriptions of how to follow the commandments that discuss loving G-d and loving one another, cannot be used to interest them in the future consequences of their lack of action.  And the weird church behavior that is showing everywhere they are aware of, and pretty much agree with me that it is terrible, but do not see what there is to be done about it.  They also think that those horribly fake Churchians are very wrong and different from themselves, yet they do little that is different from the people they disapprove of openly, except avoid the wacky churches.

Pagan is as Pagan does!

The Christians that I know well and love dearly are also somewhat aware of the pagan behavior of the Western World and the various Christian denominations, but more or less gently accept it, and partake of it to the social degree necessary in the society around them to keep others from being uncomfortable.  They just do not wish to do anything about it.

So what can we do, who are worried about their friends and families future status in the Kingdom of G-d run into the fact that those around us can tolerate that we think a different way, and see different things in the Scriptures, and thus act differently, but do not want to join us?  It often seems that we can do nothing because they are simply not interested in what we have to say, and see no reason to be interested in doing anything about it.

Some amongst the more Non-Pagan Believers out there in the world are beginning to say that those who do not do as they do are not saved.  We are almost all the way back to having Believers in Yeshua who are not able to accept those that do not do as they do in regard to the commandments Gentiles are supposed to follow, even though they are only Torah Observant in a very limited, un-Orthodox, un-Rabbinical way.  Some Torah Obedient Beleivers in Yeshua are flat-out saying that everyone is wrong except them…which is not a matter of simple disagreement over non-salvation matters as is usually the case between denominations, but ex-communication or dis-fellowship.

Some of those Believers that value Easter and Xmas over the Acts 15 Decree instead of thinking them idolatrous also eat blood, pork and shellfish even though they know Abba doesn’t like it, continue to not marry their lovers, and also fellowship closely with other Paganized Christians and even Unbelievers.  They do this, because they say they are not Jewish.  They say that was what they were brought up with, and it was never wrong to anyone they know.  They want to keep their pagan stuff because of their understanding of the Acts 15 decree as saying they need do nothing but avoid Idolatry, avoid Temple Prostitution, avoid eating blood, and avoid foods sacrificed to Idols.  They are so uninterested in anything Biblical that one might call them Christianizers, if in a non-Orthodox, non-Catholic way.  But being a Disciple of Yeshua is not about mere avoidance!

Avoidance is not Obedience

Avoiding Idolatry means worshiping G-d the Father in the ways he wants to be worshipped, which we can know because it is written down in the Scriptures, and it is plain that Abba likes the Saturday Sabbath and his Festivals celebrated.   They are celebrations and are meant to be enjoyed even as we learn from them about Yeshua.

Avoiding fornication is the avoidance of close, intimate friendship with those people in Pagan faiths as much as it is about being chaste, and avoiding what were orgies at the local Temple of Diana.  It means withdrawing a way from those you love that are not willing to be obedient to G-d.

Avoiding the eating of blood and of eating foods not sacrificed to Idols means eating Biblically clean foods, and at the least washing/brining/salting your meat before you cook it unless you can afford Kosher meat which is kashered already, because from Noah onward, clean animals were separated out for food, and killing them kindly, and draining the blood from them fully was important from the beginning.

They were lied to and they BELIEVE the lie.

Still, I am gravely afraid that there is no reasonable way to broach the matter as being of importance to those Pagan Christians that are tolerant of the idea that I honor Shabbat and the Feast Days when they are also firm in their trust in Yeshua for their salvation, and are actively walking out their understanding of the New Testament.

They do not see that they are doing anything wrong when they are not doing what Yeshua did and spoke about in the simplest, scripturally stated, non-pagan, non-Jewish manner that they can. They don’t see that Yeshua spoke constantly about Shabbat and explained about how not to tie people up in rules.  They don’t see that Yeshua celebrated every Festival, and also spoke about how to walk in the path of righteousness created by following the Ten Commandments in great detail!  They don’t see that Sha’ul kept all the commandments, and that his freedom from the ‘law’ was freedom from the Phaisaic traditions of the Sages and the Elders.  It wasn’t about freedom from the Mosaic Covenant, because the New Covenant is the Mosaic one written on the heart, and not on tablets of stone.

The people I know are all Gentiles, and sincerely believe that they are not required to be anything but circumcised in their hearts.  They do not see that circumcision of the heart is created by being willing to do all that the Ruach haKodesh shows them is right, and that part of what is righteous is written down in the Acts 15 Decree, and in all the teachings of the Apostles, as well as every word that dropped from Yeshua’s lips.

They have been wrongly taught, and they understand only that they are under ‘Grace’, and think that good intent and good will are enough to please G-d.   They want a simple faith, like they were brought up with, and don’t want all these new ideas…the ideas that are written in their Bible.  They are law-abiding in the civil sense, but they walk in the ways of the Pagans as much as they walk after Yeshua.  I do not know how to dispute that without being offensive until something is being done against those that keep Shabbat, and the Festivals in the Western World, except to write about it here, and elsewhere, and pray that someone will read it that needs to understand more about their relationship with Yeshua than their initial redemption and salvation through faith.

They Don’t Know That Obedience IS WORSHIP!

Salvation is through faith in Yeshua’s action on the stake, but pleasing G-d takes a bit more than mental assent!  You would almost think that they don’t want to be blessed by G-d, because a lot of them seem to be doing everything in their power to keep away from YHVH, except to be generally kind and decent to all.  They don’t do much in the way of worshiping G-d, except praise him and thank him for Yeshua, which is only a good beginning of worship, because they don’t understand that obedience is our worship…the valuing of what G-d wants, as stated in the Scriptures.

That frustrates and saddens me, and worries me for their well-being, because I do not see a way to reach people that LOVE Yeshua in these matters until the AntiChrist is fully revealed, and makes it plain what worship he wants, and until the Two Witnesses are available to say with authority what it is that G-d wants from all of us.

I am not particularly good, nor do I walk all that much in righteousness, and I don’t follow the commandments as stated in the Acts 15 Decree and as described and performed by Yeshua in the New Testament as well as I want to, but I do try to follow them, and I do honor them.  Most of those Christians that trust in Yeshua for their Salvation do not.  They see and hear what has been told them for so long…almost 1800 years…that they do not even read their Bibles to see if what they are told is true, because the half-truths taught them are enough to cause them to lose their reward from G-d, presuming they are faithful enough in Yeshua’s eyes to get into the Kingdom by the grace they are counting on.

John 14:21 (CJB)
21  Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me, and the one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”

The Truth is Coming Soon to the Temple in Jerusalem

I also see that this is a big portion of why there will be a Temple, and the Two Witnesses and the AntiChrist stomping all over Jerusalem. There is no other way to reach those that are obedient in their own eyes to YHVH, and who are walking the narrow way that they see before them in the Lukewarm version of a good walk…unless of course, we flat-out tell them they are being Lukewarm, and thus push ourselves over the edge of a cliff of non-fellowship. From their point of view, we are simply being unreasonable, uncivil, and repetitive.  We have no standing, and no authority, and they are unwilling to see if what we say is true, because they might have to do something about it.

If we push ideas at them to the edge of offense without something to point to as being indisputable, like the AntiChrist and the Two Witnesses showing them the time is NOW, are we not going to lose them anyway? How do we truly imperfect followers of Yeshua tell them, who are walking in Yeshua to the best of their knowledge that they don’t know as much as they thought, and that it is time to come up higher, and return to their first love of Yeshua, when anything he wanted was a pleasure to attempt to do.

We can tell them that they are not following the Acts 15 commandments, and know that at least we are telling them an unpleasant truth…that we do not know who the 5 Bridesmaids without oil are, but they might want to re-read their Bible with the question in their mind as they ask for discernment on the matter.

And those of us unwilling to offend those we love need to ask, ”Abba, am I  being lukewarm?”

How do you ‘Calculate the Days’ to Messiah?

It is not easy to wrap the mind around calendar shennanigans, and dealing with the transfer from the Western mindset to the Eastern on exactly when the day changes is a real problem.  In the Roman West, the day changes at Midnight.  Our literature speaks of the late watches of the night, and the early dawn of day, but in the Eastern Judaic mindset the days run from sunset to sunset.  This crucial detail is what tangles me up everytime I try to beat the Sunset on Erev Shabbat, and get my cooking done before dark on Friday so that the Sabbath can be said to begin.  I am neither Jewish, nor all that observant, but the Holy Spirit asked me years back to ‘Consider keeping the Sabbath, and so I do, and for a Westerner, the shift in timing is difficult.  This same problem tangled up the Romans when they wrote of Yeshua’s death years after the fact, and most Westerners still do not know why it is important what day of the week the Last Supper was on, or what exact day of the week Yeshua died on.  Can it be so important?

Well, no one can figure out just how the prophecy in Daniel was carried out in reality except with calendars and much difficulty, but I keep trying to explain it in sufficient detail to be accurate without confusing people.  I do not think I succeed very well.  I have a long article here about the matter that is continually under revision as the Ruach ha Kodesh gives me more information, and as other people write new discoveries about the same items.  No one except G-d has all the answers explaining Daniel, and no one should claim to get it exactly right until Yeshua comes, and tells us who is right, but one does have to get into the sticky details to prove that this prophecy is fulfilled.

Calculating the Days of Messiah

Only by fulfilled prophecy, and by the witness of that fulfillment can anything about G-d be proved.  Nothing can be proved about Yeshua ben Notsri except by the fulfillment of prophecy, and the witnesses given of that fulfillment and all of the circumstances and systematic proofs that correlate that fulfillment.  The fact that the days of Yeshua’s advent on earth, his death, and resurrection is proved by prophecy, and that there are witnesses of those who saw it fulfilled is a given to Christians and Messianic Jews and Gentiles, but is not proven to the satisfaction of non-believers.  And yet, when you consider all the other details that had to be in place to ensure that we would know that Yeshua ben Notsri was haMashiach ben Yosef, and thus we could believe him when he said he would return as Mashiach ben David, you have only one day, one year, one man, and all his historically recorded details of circumstance and prophetic fulfillment to consider.  Prophecy is not simply a guess…it is YHVH Elohim telling someone exactly what happened, and when, before it comes to pass.

Understanding this week in history, and all the details of several prophecies that were fulfilled in this specific week,  is crucial to proving how G-d ensured his initial statement in Genesis would be carried out.  The exact fulfillment of the prophecies contained in the foreshadowing of the Jewish Festival of Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the Feast of First Fruits can only be understood alongside the fulfillment of the many other prophecies given in the Tanakh.

The many conditions of all the prophecies relating to Mashiach ben Yosef had to be met in one series of actions that were prefigured in the Spring Festivals.   These conditions were fulfilled by Yeshua’s entry into Jerusalem just prior to his death, while the specific details of the Levitical commandments of Passover as they were kept on the exact days required is noted in the Apostolic Writings, and are witnessed to by the world, but can only be fully understood with the evidence on  three different calendars.  All three are necessary because of the Solar-Lunar nature of the Israeli Calendar.

The Israeli Calendar is to our Western minds, half a day off.  It is maddening to those humans brought up to think that Dawn is the beginning of the day, when from the Beginning, it was written that the Evening, and the Morning were one day.  Consequently, the Israelites kept track of the days from moon to moon, and from sunset to sunset.  Consequently, you have to be able to look at a calendar converter on the internet to see the different calendars compared to another.  I use the calendar at CalendarHome.com.  It may be different from other calendar converters, and from home calculations, and consequently give slightly different dates than other writers.

The three different calendars necessary to understand how the prophecies were fulfilled by Yeshua during the week that Yeshua died are the Julian Calendar in effect in the West in the 1st Century; the Gregorian Calendar; and the Israeli Calendar.  With modern Astronomy, computers, and the recently planted mirrors on the moon, it is possible to calculate the exact times of moonrise in Jerusalem on any date in time.  Israeli Calendars are calculated on the Solar-Lunar method, and correlated with the Solar Calendars of the West with a good computer program.  I have used the free calendar at http://www.CalendarHome.Com.

There are many prophecies concerning the Messiah to be found in the Hebrew Scriptures, and the majority of them are the glorious kingly and priestly prophecies which Yeshua haNotsri did not fulfill when he was on earth some two thousand years ago.  Rabbinical Jews typically point to this fact as proof that Yeshua ha Notsri is not the Messiah.  However, people that refuse to look outside the box of their assumptions often do not see that the answer to their questions is outside of the box.  All Jews, to the best of our knowledge, did not ever think that the two roles of the Suffering Messiah, and the Conquering Messiah could be fulfilled in one person’s identity until Yeshua demonstrated how it was going to be done.

In fact, the only way that one person could fulfill both these roles was for that person to die a mortal death, yet having the eternal, Creative Soul, resurrect that mortal body, and change it to a perfect, incorruptible Human Being.  That person is G-d, leaving behind his power in one dimension, and focusing his Self into a mortal body in our dimension, while ensuring that events took their planned course with the help of his Pneuma, his breath, the Ruach haKodesh (AKA the Holy Spirit).  One Essence, three (or more) described persons, all playing their part in a drama enacted on our planet for the edification of another race of beings (the Angels), but to our ultimate benefit, for we get the grand prize of Sonship for participating in the education of the Angels.  Thus G-d makes events fit the prophecies he gave to other men in earlier times.

Now, whether the other race of beings, the Angels is also participating in our story or just viewing it is not relevant to us, although the possibilities presented there are hinted at or referenced in Genesis, Job, and the other, non-canonical books of Enoch.

The Prophecy in Isaiah

Those of us, who believe Yeshua haNotsri is alive and returning, believe that he will fulfill the remainder of all of these glorious prophecies when he returns. But there are a few Messianic prophecies that are not glorious and indicate that the Messiah would suffer. Isaiah 53 is probably the most notable of them.

Isaiah 53:1-12 (CJB)
Who believes our report?  To whom is the arm of Adonai revealed?
For before him he grew up like a young plant,  like a root out of dry ground.  He was not well-formed or especially handsome;  we saw him, but his appearance did not attract us.
People despised and avoided him,  a man of pains, well acquainted with illness.  Like someone from whom people turn their faces,  he was despised; we did not value him.
In fact, it was our diseases he bore,  our pains from which he suffered;  yet we regarded him as punished,  stricken and afflicted by God.
But he was wounded because of our crimes,  crushed because of our sins;  the disciplining that makes us whole fell on him,  and by his bruises we are healed.
6  We all, like sheep, went astray;  we turned, each one, to his own way;  yet Adonai laid on him  the guilt of all of us.
7  Though mistreated, he was submissive—  he did not open his mouth.  Like a lamb led to be slaughtered,  like a sheep silent before its shearers,  he did not open his mouth.
After forcible arrest and sentencing,  he was taken away;  and none of his generation protested  his being cut off from the land of the living  for the crimes of my people,  who deserved the punishment themselves.
He was given a grave among the wicked;  in his death he was with a rich man.  Although he had done no violence  and had said nothing deceptive,
10  yet it pleased Adonai to crush him with illness,  to see if he would present himself as a guilt offering.  If he does, he will see his offspring;  and he will prolong his days;  and at his hand Adonai’s desire  will be accomplished.
11  After this ordeal, he will see satisfaction.  “By his knowing [pain and sacrifice],  my righteous servant makes many righteous;  it is for their sins that he suffers.
12  Therefore I will assign him a share with the great,  he will divide the spoil with the mighty,  for having exposed himself to death  and being counted among the sinners,  while actually bearing the sin of many  and interceding for the offenders.”

On the occasions when Jewish teachers try to address this prophecy we are told that the suffering servant is Israel as a nation and not prophetic of Yeshua haNotsri. We are told that Israel is suffering for its own sins in this passage. But there are several things wrong with this picture.

The first is Isaiah’s use of the term “cut off“, which means killed or executed. This understanding is evident in that the one “cut off” was removed from “the land of the living”. Israel as a nation of people has never ceased to exist and continues to exist, even though it is hated by many.

Secondly is the idea that Israel is suffering for its own sins, when this prophecy clearly indicates that someone other than “My people” (Israel) is suffering on Israel’s behalf.

Thirdly, is the picture in the prophecy that this suffering person had done nothing wrong and was guiltless.

How could this possibly be speaking of Israel as a nation? Are we really to believe that Israel is his own guiltless sufferer who is suffering for his own sins? The Jewish picture caves-in on itself.  The interpretation simply doesn’t fit the passage, and it should be apparent that Jewish teachers are desperately trying to discover some interpretation other than the obvious.

The Prophecy in Daniel

Another prophecy concerning Messiah’s suffering comes from the book of Daniel. The angel Gabriel appeared to Daniel and gave him a prophecy concerning when the Messiah would come and what would happen to him. Before it can be interpreted, there are important details in this prophecy that need to be understood.

Daniel 9:24-27 (CJB)
24  “Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and for your holy city for putting an end to the transgression, for making an end of sin, for forgiving iniquity, for bringing in everlasting justice, for setting the seal on vision and prophet, and for anointing the Especially Holy Place.
25  Know, therefore, and discern that seven weeks [of years] will elapse between the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Yerushalayim until an anointed prince comes. It will remain built for sixty-two weeks [of years], with open spaces and moats; but these will be troubled times.
26  Then, after the sixty-two weeks, Mashiach will be cut off and have nothing. The people of a prince yet to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary, but his end will come with a flood, and desolations are decreed until the war is over.
27  He will make a strong covenant with leaders for one week [of years]. For half of the week he will put a stop to the sacrifice and the grain offering. On the wing of detestable things the desolator will come and continue until the already decreed destruction is poured out on the desolator.”

Here again it is prophesied that the Messiah would be executed, and again, that not for himself!  This prophecy is impossible to avoid and I have yet to hear an argument as to how this could be in reference to anyone or anything other than Yeshua haNotsri.  A large number of Jews have become Messianic believers in Yeshua haNotsri on the basis of this prophecy alone. But not only does this prophecy predict the execution of the Messiah, it predicts when he would come.

The term “week” in this prophecy is generally accepted to be a shavua, which is a Hebrew term for a period of 7 years.  One of the most important keys to unlocking its interpretation is to remember that this prophecy focuses on the city of Jerusalem. Nearly all expositors seem to lose track of this fact before reaching the end of the prophecy.

Gabriel said that at the end of the 490-year period would come the end of Jerusalem’s troubles.  Everlasting righteousness would come, and the Holy of Holies in the temple would once again be anointed with the presence of God.  This is the very thing Daniel was praying for at the time the Angel Gabriel visited him in Babylon, and gave him the Prophecy.  The picture Gabriel paints of the time immediately following the fulfillment of the 70 weeks is a description of the Messianic age.  But understanding the time frames given by Gabriel has been a bit of a nightmare for scholars.

The full time frame of 490 years is plainly divided into three parts.

They are:

7 weeks of years…49 years,

62 weeks of years…434 years,

1 week of years…7 years, divided into two halves of which only one is described.

The first two parts are evidently consecutive, because they describe a known period of history in which the Israelites were returning to Jerusalem after the Babylonian Exile, and together add up to 483 years.

Then there is a gap or span of time between the end of the 483 years and the last 7 years, which is then further described.  But the first 483 years of this prophecy is the total amount of time that would elapse between two specific events.  That event is the, “…issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem”, and the consummation of this 483 year period was to be when Mashiach will be cut off” in Jerusalem, which also had to be prior to the destruction of the 2nd Temple.

How do we KNOW that Yeshua fulfilled the Prophecies?

There have been a number of theories advanced by Christian scholars as to what events in history fulfilled these prophecies and how the time span between them adds up to 483 years.  I have researched several of the more respected theories and noticed that each of them have excellent arguments that prove the other theories must be in error!  Consequently, none of them work.

Instead of trying to make historical events fit the 483 year time frame, it is best to approach it from a different angle and start by looking at the prophecy to establish which events best fit the description of the prophecy.

Which Prophecy?

The first event is the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem. There were two decrees issued 13 years apart by Artaxerxes, King of Persia.

Many believe the first decree as recorded in Ezra 7 is the fulfillment of the first part of this prophecy. Here, Ezra gives a year and month in which Artaxerxes, King of Persia, issued a decree to go and rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. It was in the fifth month of the seventh year of the king’s reign.  The problem with this decree is that it concerns rebuilding the temple, and has nothing to do with the city of Jerusalem.

Remember, the prophecy in Daniel that is about Messiah the Prince is the one that concerns the City of Jerusalem being rebuilt.  The time that Messiah would come is calculated from that point.

 WHICH decree Matters???

It is the second decree of Artaxerxes that came 13 years later that specifically concerns the city.  This decree is recorded in Nehemiah 2 where it says the decree went out in the Hebrew month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes.  This date  would have been anywhere from mid-March to late April in the year 445 B.C on the Gregorian calendar., which is known as the 446th year B.C. on the Julian Calendar which is used to establish the date of the going out of the decree from Babylon to rebuild the City of Jerusalem…rather than the decree to rebuild the Temple that most of the scholarly people in the past have used, and then reject as the kick-off date because 483 solar years later takes us to 38 A.D Gregorian.  This is at least 6 years too late to reconcile with any event during Yeshua haNotsri’s time

“…from the going forth of the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem…

“…until Messiah the Prince…” When Messiah the Prince comes into Jerusalem as the Messiah. This is where many scholars miss it.  The prophecy applies to both the people of Israel, and the City of Jerusalem at one and the same time.  The timing therefore relates to when Messiah is in Jerusalem fulfilling the other prophecies that relate to the Feast of Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the First Fruit offering to G-d.

And then, there is the Donkey!

The central figures throughout the prophecy are the Messiah and Jerusalem together. There is only one event in the life of Yeshua haNotsri that can fit this prophecy. Interestingly enough, this event has a parallel prophecy.

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!  Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.”  Zechariah 9:9

A Donkey?

I know…this sounds off track, but it’s really important, and people often dismiss it.  This is a prophecy of Yeshua’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem.  In the record of this event found in Luke 19:28-44, Yeshua haNotsri also said something interesting as he was riding the colt toward the city.

Then, as he was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, saying; “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” And some of the Pharisees called to him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” But he answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” Now as he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace…” Luke 19:37-42a

This day was no ordinary day.  It was apparently so special, had not the disciples praised Yeshua haNotsri as the Messiah, the stones apparently would have done the job for them. And Yeshua said to Jerusalem, “this is your day“ !

What day?

The very day the prophecies from Daniel and Zechariah were fulfilled.  Some people believe that this prophecy points to the Baptism of Yeshua, but that is all wrong for the prophecies, and the prophecy states the coming of Mashiach as being on a particular day, in a particular year, while other prophecies describe what happens on that day.

There is only ONE day in ONE year that works for everything in the combined prophecies.

On the Gregorian calendar it would have been described as having fallen on Saturday March 30, 30 AD, which is known as April 2, 30 AD Julian calendar, and is also known as Nissan 10**, 3790 Israeli Calendar.  This is four days before Erev Passover on Wednesday afternoon of the following week, when Yeshua was crucified, with Passover beginning later that same day after sunset, the 15th day of Nissan.

**The western world’s Calendar year for the time period in which the Advent of Mashiach took place would catch up to the Israeli Calendar 8 months later, consequently from the Greco-Roman point of view, it was still AD 30.

Important Note :

3/30/30 AD Gregorian, in the calculations of gematria is 3/3/3…a trinity of trinities.

Part of the confusion about calendars and dates are which years and which days are which, and for accuracy, you have to check the words in Hebrew, not Greek.  (The Romans really blew it, but with the different calendars, and different legal Sabbaths, along with no interest in anything Jewish, how could they have known the mistakes they were making?)

**Please remember that computer calendar converters do not subtract the half day known as Erev on any day from the Western calendars that begin at midnight of the following day  In America, which is about 8 hours difference in New York, and 11 hours in SoCal..

Consequently, Saturday the 10th of Nissan didn’t begin until Midnight of Sunday for Westerners (Making it Palm SundayBUT was actually Shabbat haGadol, the Sabbath before Passover, and the actual day of the month (10 Nisan) one chooses a lamb for sacrifice on Passover, as you examine its perfections, tie it near your home for 4 days, get real cuddly with it, while the kids name it, so that it really hurts when you have to kill it.…or so goes the rational of these matters.

Fulfillment of Prophecy is never a minor thing!

Riding a donkey is only permitted on Shabbat if it has not ever been ridden before, and then only by the King of Israel!

By riding a donkey on the Sabbath Yeshua was making a specific point that He was Mashiach, the anointed One, and King of Kings…..because, according to the Rabbis, only a donkey that had never been ridden before could legally be ridden on the Sabbath…and to do so was indicative of kingship.

A Donkey…for a King?

Zechariah 9.9 prophesied:

Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, lowly, and sitting on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.’

This prophecy is referred to in Matthew, and is complicated by the Law in Exodus:

Yeshua said .., ‘Go into the village opposite you, and  you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her.  Loose them and bring them to Me.’…All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Prophet.  Matthew 21.1-5

Exodus 23:12  Six days you shall do your work, and on the seventh day you shall rest, that your ox and your donkey may rest

God’s instructions in the Torah are specific that even ‘your donkey’ must rest on the Sabbath. So, Yeshua‘s decision to enter Jerusalem sitting on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey must have happened on the Sabbath, because for it to have happened on any other day would have had NO significance.

It establishes that Yeshua was a humble man, certainly, but riding anything on Shabbat is a crime punishable by death  Presumably if Yeshua had not said he was going to be seated on the right hand of the Father, they could have killed him just for rising the donkey.

By riding a donkey on the Sabbath Yeshua was making a specific point that he was Messiah, the anointed One, and King of Kings…..because, according to the Rabbis, only a donkey that had never been ridden before could legally be ridden on the Sabbath (as it had never been worked, and thus needed no rest)…and to do so was indicative of the rights of kingship, and was fulfillment of the prophecy.

Pinning the Saturday Sabbath to the Messianic Entry into Jerusalem ties the day of the week to the Feast of Passover of a particular year that doesn’t happen very often.  It cannot be a first-of-the-month Monthly Sabbath, and thus always the first day of the month; nor could it be the kind of Shabbat that is a ‘High Sabbath’, as would be the day of rest specified on the first and last days of both the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the Feast of Succot, which both float freely on the solar/lunar calendar.

Only the weekly Shabbat is on a particular day of the week, Saturday, and thus pins Messiah’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem on a Saturday that occurs 4 days prior to Erev Passover, on which it is required that the Israelites kill the sacrifice of the lamb prior to sunset on Erev Passover.  And, by pinning the day of the weekly Shabbat to the calender date of the yearly presentation of the lamb for sacrifice also settles the Priestly versus Pharisaic quarrel over the feast of First Fruits always being on the first day of the week, because Yeshua had to be dead for at least 3 full days…a full 72 hours, to be accounted truly dead, with his soul gone from his body, as is stated in the Gospels, literally announcing freedom to the captives in Sheol.

Why so many details?

The accuracy of the fulfillment of the prophecy given by the Angel Gabriel to Daniel is extreme.  The only way that anyone could be really sure that Yeshua haNotsri and Yeshua haNotsri ALONE had fulfilled the combination of the relevant prophecies was to place enough clues in the prophecies long in advance of the event prophesied, and seed the time markers and prophetic shadows of Yeshua’s life in the Jewish feast days…the Moedim.  The only person who could arrange this fulfillment was G-d.

This ensured that the prophecies all together could only be fulfilled under one set of circumstances.  When these circumstances were combined with the signs of healing such as people being healed of blindness and deafness from birth defects, creative miracles never performed by anyone before that time; and added to the fulfillment of the prophecy Yeshua made about the temple of his own body being destroyed and raised up in three days was ensured only because Yeshua was G-d.  The simplistic ideas of the Sages and Rabbis that there would be two Mashiach’s, rather than one Mashiach that came back from the dead, then go to the Father, and long after come back in power when it was G-d’s timing cannot be given credence any longer.  YHVH told the Sages and the Rabbis in detail about Yeshua in the prophecies, and played out Yeshua’s entire ministry on earth in both advents in the festivals.  The Sages and Rabbi’s mostly did not understand, and many still refuse to look at what can be proven.

No Room for Error

Just look at the Gregorian calendar date for Yeshua’s entry into Jerusalem…the 30th of March in 30 AD.   The year 28 AD on the Gregorian Calendar, which is the commonly used Western Calendar of BC/AD, has the exact same configuration of Days of the Week for that year, but is not the right gematria of three 3’s that you find in 30 A.D..  Once this is known, it is easy to discern which of the two possible years surrounding any annointed leader in Judea will fit the prophecy.  The fact that the Temple was destroyed exactly 40 years later, which is G-d’s well known time of testing, makes it sure.

Only if all the details match is anyone able to be sure that a prophecy is accurate.  The days of the week never changed regardless of the calendar date,  and the Gregorian Calendar was not even thought of at the time of the fulfillment of the prophecy…the Julian Calendar was in use in the West from 46 BC to 1582 AD.

Yeshua’s Last Days

Yeshua, after throwing the money changer’s tables around at the entrance to the Outer Court of the Temple then taught for a while apparently without much problem on the day before the eve of Passover, and then went to Lazarus’s house in Bethany for the night.  He was not arrested for his behavior, which really was extreme for an average Jew of the time period.  The Sanhedrin didn’t dare touch him yet…it was not permitted of G-d.  Then, the following day, the day of the preparation for Passover, called Erev Passover,  which was Wednesday in 30 AD.,  Yeshua hosted a Dinner celebrating a time of rigorous application of Torah study by having the ‘Last Supper’ with his Talmudim because the Fast of the First born began on Erev Passover on  Tuesday Night/ Erev Wednesday the 14th of Nissan in AD 30.

Which Part of the Day is Important?

Please recall that the evening of a day is still the same next day in the Israeli tradition, so Yeshua and other first born sons  within his Talmudim were supposed to Fast all of the day of preparation prior to Passover, from sunset to sunset.  If they did not choose to keep the Fast of the First Born Sons because not all of their household or discplefold were first born sons, they could give themselves a special holiday, and feast instead of fasting as a reward for diligent study, beginning the evening before the day of preparation for Passover…in this case Erev Wednesday, which we call Tuesday Evening.

For a group so close to their Lord, there would have been others at the last Supper that were first born sons…perhaps Peter, or James ben Zebedee, and possibly Judas Iscariot, but in that group of Twelve there were younger brothers, including Yeshua’s brothers.  For some to keep a fast, and some to eat as usual was not always the most practical means of dealing with dinner in extended families, with lots of cousins, uncles and grandparents.

As a way around what was have been an all too common problem the Rabbis were not without merit in getting around detailed laws that are too confining for mankind when meeting with rarely seen extended family at Passover. The Rabbis instituted a reward dinner instead of keeping the Fast of the First born, if they, the First Born, had completed a difficult schedule of Torah Study prior to the Fast of the First Born. These complicated families with several generations meeting in Jerusalem at Passover was very common, just as this case of brothers and followers of a Rabbi who was a First born son would necessitate a Feast.

With Yeshua, one can be sure, the study was deep, and difficult to understand, and that he would have had to explain again and again how all the prophecies of the Tanakh about the Messiah were to be concluded in him, in two separate states of existence, but as the same person.  Consequently, after explaining this yet again to his 1st Century disciples, they then celebrated the Fast of the Firstborn Son by feasting!

People have trouble to this day difficulty wrapping their minds around this concept, and Yeshua had to be very sure that the Disciples made it through the next three days by impressing on them the fact that he had been born a specially designed mortal man with YHVH’s soul attached to that perfectly designed Y Chromosome that the Ruach haKodesh made possible in Miriam’s womb, along with the other excellent Davidic genes Yeshua received from Miriam making for a very unusual mortal child…another Adam, Yeshua ben Yoseph ben Eli, who is Miriam’s Father, born of the Davidic Line only through Miriam.

Miriam’s genealogy was perfect, and when you consider that anyone from the Davidic bloodline can be chosen as the Mashiach by G-d, and that Yeshua was entirely made of Miriam’s DNA even though the sex was altered, you have a fully Davidic King.

Looking at Passover Week

Yeshua got himself arrested, condemned and executed during Twilight on Passover EVE, which is what we in the West would call Wednesday ( after dark on what we normally in the West consider to be Tuesday night) even though the Israelis would call it Wednesday as soon as sunset fell.

The timeline of the ‘Three Days in the Grave’ is like this in Western times.

Tuesday – Mid Afternoon.  Yeshua tells everyone that they will not see him again, unless they  learn to say, “Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord.”

Tuesday Night – Yeshua eats a festive celebration on the Fast of the Firstborn Son to celebrate the intensive study period they had just completed, prays in the garden on Mount Olivet, is arrested, tried, being found guilty of Blasphemy for proclimging himself the Mashiach, and turned over to the Romans for sentencing.

Wednesday –  Yeshua is sentenced, flogged, and crucified, dying in the hours just before dusk, commonly described as ‘between the evenings’.  Yeshua was buried before Sunset on Wednesday.

Thursday – Yeshua’s body was in the Grave, while his Soul was in one of the realms of what is termed ‘Paradise’, figuratively described as being ‘under the Throne.’

Friday – Yeshua’s body was still in the Grave, while his Soul was still in one of the realms of what is termed ‘Paradise’, figuratively described as being ‘under the Throne.’

Saturday – Yeshua ressurects himself at any time from just before sunset on Shabbat to well after Sunset, having spent a full three nights and three days in the grave…a full 72 hours, beyond the time that the soul was considered to have been in the body after death.  Any time after Sunset, Yeshua would be able to ascend to Throne of G-d, presenting himself as the First Fruits of the Resurrection.

Sunday – in the dawns early light, Miriam goes to the tomb, and finds Yeshua in the garden just prior to his Ascension to the Throne as the First Fruits of the Ressurection.

The last fulfillment of the Passover Story is Yeshua resurrecting himself on Erev Sunday, which we call Saturday EVENING after sunset, which is considered ‘very early in the day’.  This is the Feast of First Fruits.

However, anyone trying to figure all this out in the first try need not try so hard…YHVH wanted us to really be puzzled by the change of calendars and how one is supposed to count the hours of the day, and what to call different parts of the day, or what the names of the days were, because this was not supposed to be figured out easily, nor until just before Yeshua’s return in the end of days.

This fits perfectly with the picture given in Daniel’s prophecy.

Gabriel said that after the 69 weeks and the Messiah entered Jerusalem “Messiah shall be cut off“. Again, this is a well-understood Hebrew phrase meaning “executed.”

But now there appears to be a  problem as the math doesn’t work out…does it?

From 446 B.C. to 31 A.D. is only 476 years. (Note. If you are doing the math, remember, there is no “0” year.)

The total of 476 years is 7 years short of 483 calendar years on all calendars in existence then and now.  The days were the same, and had the same names of the week as now, allowing for different countries and languages, of course.

The KEY to the Riddle

The confirmation of the key to solving this puzzle can be found in Revelation chapter 12, and is matched almost word for word in Daniel.

In Revelation Chapter 12, verse 6, there is mention of a time period of 1,260 days. Later, in verse 14, this same period of time is referred to as 3.5 years in the encrypted phrase, “a time, and times, and half a time”.

The Jews in Daniel’s time knew this.

We know that the Persian Astrologers/Sorcerers/Mages were looking for Mashiach long before he arrived, and Daniel’s writings are proved to be at least 200 years old by the Dead Sea Scrolls discovery.  The Babylonians no doubt had a copy, (See Matthew chapter 2.) and perhaps a few of the scholars of the time were keeping track…like the Prophets in Bethlehem…(Luke 2:25-36 – Simeon and Hannah)

So, if we keep to God’s original, perfect, Edenic Year, we divide 1,260 by 3.5 years and we get 360-day years!

God does not see a year as 365.25 days as we do when describing things for prophetic purposes.  He counts 360 days as a year.  Our planet is sadly off track its orbit, and getting more so with each solar wind triggered earthquake.   This fact can also be deduced from the account of the flood in Genesis 7:11,24 8:3,and 4 where five months are equal to 150 days. This means there were once 30 day lunar months as opposed to our current 28 to 29 day lunar month in the time of the flood.

Proven: God’s original, perfect, Edenic Year

12 months of 30 days each makes a 360-day year!

Presumably, before the flood, our clock (both solar and lunar) was in perfect sync with God’s clock in heaven.  But due to astronomical events that would be responsible for the physics of the flood, and the breaking of the mantle of the earth’s crust into plates floating on magma, our earth was slowed in its track around the sun so that it now takes an extra 5.25 days for it to complete its cycle.   It  still apparent from the books of Genesis and Revelation that God sees a year as 360 days because otherwise the prophecy in Daniel 9:24 would not predict exactly the Passover week that Yeshua road into Jerusalem.

To prove what I am going to say, go to http://calendarhome.com/calculate/convert-a-date and take a look.

Type in March 30, AD 30 at 0:00 hour on the Gregorian calendar line…and  take a look as I spell out the mathematics.

Let’s take the dates I have given for the beginning and end of the prophecy and rework them with this piece of data. We only have a specific month to work with for a beginning of the 483-year prophecy of 360 day years (Nisan), but we have an exact date for the fulfillment of the prophecy… Nisan 10, 3790 / March 30, AD 30 Gregorian, April1, 30 Julian.

First we convert the 483 Prophetic Lunar Years into Days.  483 times 360 equal 173,880 days.

Now we convert those days to Solar Years.  173,880 divided by 365.25 equals 476 years, 21 days.

Take the year 30/30/3790 and subtract 476 years and 21 days.

You end up with Julian 3/26/446 BC, Gregorian 3/26/445 BC, Nisan 2 3315

The Word went out from Artaxerxes in Nisan, 3115.

It is the second decree of Artaxerxes that came 13 years later that specifically concerns the city.  This decree is recorded in Nehemiah 2 where it says the decree went out in the Hebrew month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes.  This date  would have been anywhere from mid-March to late April in the year 445 B.C on the Gregorian calendar., which is known as the 446th year B.C. on the Julian Calendar which is used to establish the date of the going out of the decree from Babylon to rebuild the City of Jerusalem

Can We Talk About Sex?

Yes, why not…everyone else does, and no one is much saying what the Scriptures say about sex.  It apparently is too delicate a subject for many Believers to discuss, or it may simply make them uncomfortable to be open about what is obviously a problem for every human being.

G-d is in favor of sex.  He is in favor of human sexuality to the point that he reminds me to remind you that he invented it.  G-d, however, also invented how and why human sexuality was to be enjoyed.

Humans are not animals and cannot ‘hookup’ in an emotionally healthy way with multiple, casual partners with the careless abandon of a wild stallion, or a feline in heat.   Humans are not animals, and our souls do bond in a way designed by G-d to make a permanent social linkage in a man and woman for the safety and preservation of the young who would be brought into the world as a natural consequence of ‘knowing’ another human being.  It is only now that the young are being casually aborted just as easily as people once threw newborns into the fires of Molech that sex is more common between strangers than a hand shake.

It is true that the purveyors of digital content have slowly desensitized the Western world to casual, open sexuality of the most debased kinds, and it is what is being pushed as the most fun thing to do with your time and attention, regardless of the negative effect it is having on people.  I remember free and easy sexual conduct or representation of sexual content being called pornea once, but only if you studied Greek, and then only in a negative way.  Apparently the West is now a replica of Pagan Rome during the time of the Caesars, and is just as debauched, while pornea is served up with your breakfast commercials and news shows.

The Greek words “pornea” (often translated “fornication”) and “akatharsia” (often translated “uncleanness”) or the Hebrew words  “na’ayuf ” and “tum’ah”  for the same definitions in English are not popular these days, any more than their definitions are, because people do not want to speak of sexual activity of any kind as being negative.  But sexual behavior in the current age is a battlefield full of land mines, and the way through the landscape needs to be taught carefully and clearly.

No one in the Western world is supposed to be opposed to anything that someone else does sexually if it is privately done and not against civil law in America, but at the date of this writing everything including sexual congress with young children is being approved of in some circles, and of course, with non-heterosexual actions being not only approved of, but mandated in America regardless of age concerns, there are some rules to be laid down for those people that are disciples of Yeshua.

Those who follow Yeshua, and worship YHVH do not partake of any but heterosexual relations within a marital relationship of one man and one woman.  If you are doing otherwise, you are not walking in the straight and narrow path.  And while there are those who wish to walk in the broad and winding way of the world, that open highway is not for Believers in YHVH.

Sexual activity outside of this narrow definition is to be avoided if you wish to please YHVH, and to maintain a loving walk as a disciple of Yeshua.  It doesn’t matter how you parse the text in any translation of the Scriptures…fornication means sexual congress outside of marriage; and uncleanness, when used in a way not denoting ritual purity, also means sexual congress outside of marriage.  If you are married, sexual congress is approved of, and to be thoroughly enjoyed as frequently as it is convenient to you both, for progeny and for pleasure and closeness.

That narrow definition of approved, heterosexual marital relations excludes everything else sexual, in thought or in deed, so you will need to avoid movies with sexual scenes in them; songs that contain sexual references; books, magazines or graphic novels that describe sexual activity, and lewd or vulgar jokes and discussions.

No self-gratification is allowed either, no matter how silly that might sound to the more secularly trained person, but as Abba explained it to me once, it was tantamount to a homosexual experience with yourself, not to mention self-indulgent in the extreme.  Curiosity about the human body as it matures is to be expected,  and should be explained frankly prior to coming of age sexually in order to avoid problems in that area, for it is easier to not begin than it is to stop once you have begun.

Homosexuality and masturbation are not approved of by YHVH, partially because these indulgences are designed by the Adversary to prevent a normal family relationship from developing in the life of the affected individual.  These activities are to be avoided merely to remain in control of one’s own body, which if you have given it to Yeshua, is not yours anymore, and must be treated as the Temple of G-d it has become.  Your body is holy unto Adonai, and is to be treated so, and so is that of the person you wish to be close to emotionally, and one day marry.

No exceptions, no excuses, and no adultery.  And if you have already blown it, as most of us in this very worldly place we are living in these days have, particularly if you were not raised in a Believing household as I was not, ask G-d for forgiveness, and ask him to help you rein in what is obviously out of control.  The more you avoid exposure to inflammatory material in pictures, words, and imagination, the better off you will be.

And if you question the seeming oddity of a life without sexual gratification when unmarried, as if it were merely food that you eat rather than a set of actions designed for the procreation of the human race, and for bonding with your spouse, you will know that you have been raised in a hedonistic secular society.  Our current society is openly stating that your sensual appetites are to be satisfied just as if you are scratching an itch.  However, not being an animal, you are supposed to acquire self-discipline as you grow in your faith, if only to prevent harm to yourself and to others.

Is living a life holy unto G-d…separated unto Yeshua easy in this way?  Oddly, once you get past the idea that you are supposed to be self-indulgent in this area, you will find it a relief to not be always wondering what you must give to others for simple human kindness, or in the first flush of attraction to a stranger.  Free and easy sexual experiences may appear to be expected of you in this secular world, but you do not need to comply, nor satisfy the prurient expectations of the secular world.

You are not secular…you are a child of the Most High G-d.
